How Heartland Healing Came To Be!

Hi! I am Jody Nyquist, NHD, ND, DD, president and owner of Heartland Healing Alternatives, Ltd.

I am thankful you are taking time from your busy schedule to review this information. I believe that people are not only capable of healing and living full, abundant lives, but also deserve to!

I encourage you to view my credentials as an alternative healthcare practitioner.  But right now, I want to share more about my practice and how I came to become a naturopath and to found Heartland Healing Alternatives, Ltd.

About my practice

Heartland Healing Alternatives provides a quiet, relaxed setting where you have the opportunity to talk about yourself.  The key to success in alternative healing is listening to and understanding the client’s needs and desires. Listening is one of my greatest attributes. By taking the time to listen to you, I am better positioned to understand your needs and arrive at the best solution possible.

Because I recognize the importance of aligning the mind, body, and spirit to achieve wellness, I use a wide variety of natural healing techniques to ensure all aspects of healing are covered. These include:

My evaluation methods allow us to see an overall picture of the body, mind, and spirit. My process essentially conducts "an interview with your body" via conversation, electric, and electromagnetic information stored in the body. This big picture view helps to uncover the cause of your problem. These techniques have been proven to be extremely successful, especially with difficult problems.

I use complex and comprehensive homeopathic formulas (multiple remedies, multiple potencies).  I also carry a variety of nutritional supplements and flower essences.

The purpose and goals of my practice are to:

  • Educate clients on making positive lifestyle choices that lead to healthful living.
  • Offer a balanced, holistic, caring approach to well care.
  • Provide quality, carefully chosen, natural products that support physical, emotional and spiritual health and well being.
  • Work closely with clients on a case-by-case basis to ensure their individual needs are met.
  • Discover and eliminate the cause of the client's problem, not the symptoms.
  • Avoid sensationalism and work cooperatively with traditional and complementary practitioners to provide the best service to my clients.
  • Continue to increase my knowledge, effectiveness, and capability as a practitioner.

About me

I am committed to helping people finding balance in their lives by teaching them how to listen to their body and inner voice so they can align their body, mind, and spirit in a holistic approach to health and well-being. I am grateful every day for the opportunity to help people see their own gifts and strengths, and share the gift of healing with others. (You can read some of their stories here.)

After many years as an internal consultant and leader for a Fortune 500 company, I have experienced and demonstrated change, compassion, understanding, intuition, and an incredible ability to listen to others. I do an excellent job translating technical information into easy to understand language. My insight and knowledge has helped many people choose improvement in their lives.

Many people ask me how I found my way to becoming a natural healthcare practitioner.

My journey started (as far as I can tell) in 1980.  I spent almost 25 years working for a Fortune 500 corporation, holding a number of different positions, the last 10 years as a program and training manager.  (As a result, I am well-versed and experienced in the fields of large-scale systems implementations, training, and human resources.  Moving to alternative health care has been a natural transition because so much of what I did and now do involves providing information to people so they can make informed decisions.  What better change to make to be able to help people develop their own divine potential!)

Early in my corporate career, I got divorced, and even though that was a good thing for both of us, I still felt something was missing in my life.  My sister encouraged me to attend an intense personal-growth seminar.  Of course, I had all the usual reasons why I couldn't or shouldn't attend.  I finally "let go and let God" and attended the training.

I learned many valuable life lessons during the training, but the most significant was when the facilitator asked me to tell a story about a time when I was completely victimized.  I told a great story and was proud of myself for convincing the other trainees how victimized I was.

Then I was asked to tell the same story — only this time taking full responsibility for every choice I made along the way.  I gasped!  How could I do that when I was so victimized?

I was amazed, but I was able to do so just by stopping and thinking for a moment, "What was it that I wanted at that time, and did I get it?"

The result — I had a life-changing experience through a simple shift in storytelling.  I learned how much power we have in our daily lives through each of the simple, seemingly meaningless choices we make every moment.  I began an insatiable quest for information on spiritual growth, alternative health, and virtually anything out of the "ordinary" as I knew it.

But over the next several years, I continued to avoid listening to my inner voice.  I developed a severe case of osteoarthritis and eventually wore orthopedic braces on both legs.  My only other option, I was told, was to have a total knee replacement.  I was reluctant to have surgery.

I believe that my inner voice (intuition) was speaking to me, and I eventually found my way to a Naturopath.  Within three months of working with this Naturopath, I was no longer in need of my braces — or surgery!

After several conversations with her, my new-found mentor, I finally got serious about my spiritual journey.  During extensive exploration and reflection, I "discovered" it was time to change careers.  With my mentor's guidance and my determination, I earned my Doctorate in Natural Health, received training on the BES equipment and technique, interned with my mentor, and opened my own natural healthcare business.  I incorporated the business in January 2002, and it became Heartland Healing Alternatives, Ltd.

I have a nurturing spirit, am a good listener, technically astute, thorough, and clear about my boundaries. I have always been intuitive, although I've tried to hide that because it didn't seem "normal," and during most of my life the approval of others seemed more important to me than being who I really am. I am able to see the "gifts" people possess and enjoy sharing that information with them. I also continue to hone my skills, ability, and willingness to speak my heart and true voice.

Over time, I have learned the importance of listening when my body, mind, or spirit is communicating with me.  I have also come to recognize the power of gratitude and abundance.  I've learned the power of choice. We can make things difficult, or we can make them easy.  This ability is in our hands with our choices and beliefs about ourselves and others.

I look forward to hearing your story and working
with you to restore your health.   ~ Jody
